Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Jesus has suffered an ACL injury in his left knee. The Brazilian went for initial scans on Monday, after he was stretchered off against Manchester United over the weekend, and reports suggested he had ruptured his ACL.
After further tests on Tuesday that has now been confirmed, effectively ending Jesus’ season. A statement from the club said: “Further to being substituted during our match with Manchester United on Sunday, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, scans and specialist reviews which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
“Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme. “We will continue to keep everyone updated with Gabby’s recovery, with everyone at the club fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”.
Jesus previously suffered a serious knee injury in 2022, with surgery required on his right knee after picking up an injury at the World Cup. This time it is his left knee and the 27-year-old is facing another long spell on the sidelines. Speaking last year, Jesus revealed he still feels the impact of that injury suffered in Qatar, and he has largely struggled to consistently produce his best form since then.
