The beautiful Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 laptop is packed with beefy specs and some great features, which might make it the most future-proof laptop you can buy right now. Asus ROG announced a brand new line of gaming laptops at CES 2025. The all-new 2025 ROG Scar 16 and 18 laptops are packed full of specifications to boast about, and a quick-access latch on the bottom of the device makes upgrading even easier. I got hands-on with the laptop, checking out the design and testing this new upgrade feature.
Prices vary based on specifications, but you can find them ranging from £3,699 to £4,699 on the Asus Storefront right now. Regional pricing is yet to be confirmed, but this converts to roughly $4,500 to $5,700, or AU$7,300 to AU$9,300. One of the first things you'll notice about the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is the absolutely gorgeous AniMe Vision feature on the lid of the laptop. Made from hundreds of tiny lights, the light-up strip allows you to display custom and even animated light patterns on your notebook to really make it your own. You also get full-surround aura RGB around the base of the laptop, which looks stunning and makes the device look like it's levitating. Pretty cool!.
Weighing in at 1.85kg and measuring 1.59cm in thickness, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 might seem hefty but gaming laptops, in general, will always be much heavier than a standard laptop thanks to all of the tech crammed inside. However, as far as gaming laptops go, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is one of the lightest and thinnest options out there, and I found that it feels as much when lifting it or carrying it around.
