Awards season is now underway, with the Golden Globes already behind us, and the showbiz world has turned its attention to the upcoming award ceremonies in the next few months. The Golden Globes, which took place on January 6 for the UK, kicked off the awards season.
Adrien Brody won his first Golden Globe for his leading role in The Brutalist. Brady Corbet, who co-wrote the film, won a best director award, and the film itself won a best drama motion picture award. The film had seven nominations going into the evening.
Additionally, Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez received 10 nominations, the most of any film, in the acting, directing, screenplay, and music categories. Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña, its stars, received acting nominations, and Mr Audiard received praise for his work as a director, songwriter, and screenwriter.
But there’s still plenty more showbiz pomp and red carpets set to take place in February and March, with the season closing after the 97th Oscars. Here is what else you can look forward to and when to watch each awards ceremony. Beyoncé leads the way with 11 nominations while Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone follow.
Winners will be announced at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The British Academy Film Awards (Baftas) are the UK’s biggest gala event, and the longlist for nominations has already been revealed. Taking place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, the 78th Baftas will bring some of the world’s leading stars together to celebrate the best films, documentaries, directors, and actors of 2025.
