Strictly favourite Amy Dowden joined BBC Breakfast hosts on Wednesday morning alongside her partner-in-dance, Carlos Gu. The dynamic dancing pair discussed their upcoming UK tour while conversation inevitably veered towards their adventures on the beloved BBC programme.
This series, viewers watched as Amy partnered up with JLS's JB Gill but had to bow out early due to an injury, leading to Lauren Oakley stepping into her dance shoes. Despite this, Amy made a triumphant return in the grand finales group performance. Opening the interview, presenter Sally Nugent enquired about Amy's wellbeing: "First of all, Amy, how are you?".
Amy responded with positivity: "I'm doing really well, thank you, yeah, really good. To dance in the final was just lush. Especially considering the two years that I've had, absolutely!". She went on to discuss the bittersweet emotions of not competing: "Obviously, bittersweet. I would have loved to have been there dancing with JB and Lauren, but I'm so proud of them both. They achieved such incredible dances on the weekend.".
The conversation then turned to Amys injury and whether she believed she could make it back for the show's climax, reports the Express. Amy commented: "That was my aim and I'm pretty determined! So yeah, that was the goal.". Looking ahead to the Reborn tour, the BBC interviewer asked if the tour represented a new chapter for Amy. She confessed: "Yeah, for me, for sure. I hope to give a message as well, always stay true to yourself. But, that better times can come. For me it's been quite a challenging few years.
