The Traitors contestants have been warned not to do one thing after one of the stars was brutally axed from the show. The hit BBC murder-mystery series sees the Traitors and Faithful battling it out to win up to £120,000. Every night the Faithful have a chance to banish one of the group in the hope of finding a Traitor.

However, the Traitors have a chance to “murder” one of the group each night. And now the contestants have been issued a warning on what not to do if they won’t want to be killed-off early doors. According to journalist Marina Hyde, portraying yourself as “very intelligent” is a sure-fire way to get murdered. It comes after communications director Yin, 34, from Berkshire, was the first to be eliminated this year after telling fellow contestants she was a behaviour expert.

Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment, Marina said: “Don’t make your character ‘I am very intelligent’ so that when you get in the castle…what about that one girl, she wouldn’t stop going on about how she was a behavioural expert? Honestly, almost the last thing she said to a bunch of the contestants of the group was ‘I’m not going to sleep tonight because I’ve not built up enough social capital’.

“Bye, bye Yin. Duly, she was eliminated because she had made her sole character note ‘I am extremely clever and I’m very good at understanding and manipulating human behaviour.”. Yin, who has a PhD in communication, told the BBC after the show that she could tell a lot about her fellow contestants by what they were wearing. She explained: “The way you dress and even your portrait in the breakfast room, that is more signal than what they're saying and how you're behaving. You can project whatever you want through words but the outfit and even hair and makeup from top to bottom is your curation.".
