Having seen four managers get sacked across the Football League on Sunday, including fellow Premier League strugglers Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin, I'd still file this match under the 'must win to feel vaguely secure' category for Lopetegui. To be honest, anything short of top 10 given West Ham's squad, investment, and recent successes will go down as a failure. But seven points in his last five league games does not represent a bad haul for Lopetegui.
. I suppose a hammer going up against a cherry is a bit of a mismatch... If head-to-head records count for anything in football at least that gives West Ham fans something to celebrates tonight. They're unbeaten in six against Bournemouth, having won four of those assignments.
Overall, they've won nine, drawn seven. and lost four against the south coast side, though they have been much bigger for most of their history. Tonight West Ham are on the road at the Vitality Stadium and, in fairness, their travels haven't treated them too badly - a recent 2-0 win at Newcastle did much to raise the spirits.
