Aubrey Plaza did not attend the Golden Globes after her husband Jeff Baena tragically died aged 47 on Friday. The director was unresponsive when an assistant found him at his Los Angeles home. Law enforcement offers and the fire brigade from the LA area arrived at his home at 10.25am on January 3 and he was pronounced dead on the scene. The LA County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Jeff's death as suicide. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Fire Department also confirmed Jeff's cause of death.

A spokesperson for Jeff's family, including his wife Aubrey, confirmed to the Mirror that they had been left devastated by the heartbreaking news and stated that the circumstances surrounding his death remained unclear but requested that they be granted time to grieve privately.

The Dirty Grandpa actress, 40, was set to appear at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on tonight and was due to be joined by co-presenters including Salma Hayek, Anya Taylor-Joy and Anthony Ramos, however she did not attend the awards according to PEOPLE. Baena and Plaza's romance sparked back in 2011 during her audition for his movie Life After Beth, marking the start of not just a working partnership but a romantic journey that led them through creative collaborations like Joshy (2016) and Horse Girl (2020). Fast forward to December 2021, Baena got down on one knee after ten years together.

Keeping it quiet, they tied the knot quietly and away from the public eye. In a nod to her beau on Instagram, Plaza referred to Baena as her "husband" in May 2021 while beaming with pride over their joint project Spin Me Round. She gushed about her hubby's new film project in Italy, writing: "So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to Italia to cause some more trouble [devil emoji]," as she revealed they were collaborating on Spin Me Round. Throughout their relationship, they have largely stayed under the radar, keeping their love story out of the limelight and deciding not to have kids.
