Kate Cassidy has revealed how she was told Liam Payne had died. The former couple had been holidaying in Argentina in the days leading up to Liam's death. But Kate made the decision to leave South America and returned to their rented home in Florida. However, two days after she left, Liam fell to his death aged 31 on October 16, falling from the balcony of his third floor hotel room. He died after suffering multiple traumas leading to an "internal and external haemorrhage".

While many of Liam's friends and his fans found out the heartbreaking news online, Kate was innocently sat scrolling through TikTok when she had a bad feeling in her gut. Her phone rang, with one of Liam's pals ringing to share the news. In a new interview, her first since Liam's death, she revealed how she feels "blessed" that she was called and didn't find out online. "I feel blessed I didn’t find out over social media because I just couldn't even imagine that," she said. She went on to add: "I was in our home with our dog, scrolling TikTok and one of Liam's friends called me." Speaking to The Sun, Kate continued: "That moment, it’s like blank; it’s blacked out in my head.

"I didn't believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. Then instantly I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I was like, 'Why would somebody make this up? Is this true?' Kate revealed she "blacked out" and instantly felt numb when the news was confirmed. In an instant, she tried to call her boyfriend in disbelief before phoning her nearest friends and family, as well as Liam's devastated parents, including dad Geoff, who flew to Argentina on the next flight. Kate's mum also took the first flight out to Florida to be with her daughter.

Their dog Nala, had no idea of the devastation Kate was experiencing and instead attempted to play with the social media influencer throughout the night. "I didn't sleep," she says. The pair had plans to marry and welcome children, with Kate admitting they "definitely," wanted that and had spoken about their future together as their relationship continued to intensify. She says her relationship with Liam was similar to a fairytale and she fave him a chance of "normality" in his hectic life.

Liam and Kate met in a scenario straight out of a rom-com, when the then-ordinary waitress served the megastar at a bar in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2022. For Liam, the attraction was immediate, and he asked for her number straight away. However, their relationship almost didn't take off. Kate gave Liam her phone number and forgot to add +1 to her area code, due to having an American number. Like this story?
