Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey is heading to Ajax whose English striker Chuba Akpom is himself on the move to Champions League club Lille. Ajax, who are also set to lose Monaco-bound Jordan Henderson, are realigning their squad having confirmed their place in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday night. The Dutch giants are ready to pay a cut price £1.5million for 24-year-old Lamptey with the pacey full-back out of contract this summer.
Lamptey has scored five times in 114 appearances for Brighton since joining from Chelsea in 2020. A number of clubs have been linked with Lamptey including Leicester, Everton, West Ham, Fulham, Wolves and Sporting Lisbon. After representing England under-21s, he switched international allegiance to Ghana and has 11 full caps. Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey is set to secure a switch to Ajax before the deadline.
English striker Chuba Akpom is poised to leave Ajax as he closes in on a move to Lille. Ajax are realigning their squad having confirmed their place in the Europa League play-offs. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Akpom – who has played in England for Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough – is set for Lille after failing to be a regular starter in Amsterdam.
