Brighton have rejected an eye-watering £75milion bid for Kaoru Mitoma from Al-Nassr and all but ended their pursuit of the winger, according to reports. As reported by Mail Sport, the Saudi Arabian side, who have Cristiano Ronaldo on their books on a staggering contract worth £168million per year, also saw their opening bid of £54m knocked back earlier this week. They were widely expected to return with an improved financial package but that was also turned down out of hand, The Sun have claimed.

The 27-year-old has been crucial for the club over the past three campaigns and his contract runs until 2027, meaning they are under no pressure to sell. Brighton are again pushing for European football under Fabian Hurzeler and as such are relucant to allow a key player to leave unless an outstanding offer is tabled. It is said that the club's hierarchy gave short thrift to the approach from Al-Nassr, one of the four clubs controlled by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund.

Brighton have rejected a huge £75m bid for Kaoru Mitoma from Al-Nassr, according to reports. The Saudi side have Cristiano Ronaldo on their books on a contract worth £168million per year. Mitoma is reportedly not for sale and is also not keen on a move out of Europe. He joined Brighton in 2021 from Japanese outfit Kawasaki Frontale in a deal worth just under £3m and has gone on to make 92 appearances.

Mitoma is the only Brighton player to have featured in all 23 Premier League games so far this season, with Hurzeler's side ninth in the table heading into the weekend. He has scored five goals and registered three assists in the top-flight. The wideman signed a contract extension in October 2023 that runs until June 2027. Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is on the verge of joining Al-Nassr, however, after a £65m bid was accepted. A medical is said to have already taken place in London.
