After dominating the airwaves and headlines last year with Brat, it’s little surprise that Charli XCX is this year’s most nominated artist, with five nods to her name (British Album of the Year, Song of the Year, British Artist of the Year, Best Pop Act and Best Dance Act).
The night will see a mix of British talent take the stage: including former Little Mix member Jade (who debuted her solo critically acclaimed pop last year and is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Act), former Rising Star Award winners The Last Dinner Party, North Shields indie rock artist Sam Fender, Stargazing singer Myles Smith and the year’s breakout TikTok star, Lola Young.
When it comes to categories like British Song of the Year and International Song of the Year, it’s a little harder to pick out a winner, mostly because so many songs are nominated (15 each).
Other noteworthy nominations include KSI’s poorly-received Thick of It for British Song of the Year, recent Mercury Prize winners English Teacher and Croydon’s Rachel Chinouriri for Best New Artist and Coldplay and The Cure for British Group.
Charli XCX takes home the award for British Songwriter of the Year, while her Brat producer A.G. Cook – who additionally counts Troye Sivan and Beyoncé as collaborators – picked up the award for Producer of the Year.
