Charli XCX has been nominated for five Brit Awards on the back of her hugely successful sixth album Brat – and the counterculture movement it inspired. As well as Guess, her duet with Billie Eilish, being nominated for Song of the Year, she is also up for Artist of the Year, Dance Act, Pop Act and Album of the Year for Brat.

The full list of nominations has also seen Dua Lipa, The Last Dinner Party and The Cure put forward for several gongs. Jack Whitehall will present the awards for the fifth time on March 1, to be one short of James Corden’s record of hosting five times (although one of these was as a co-host).

It will all take place at the O2 Arena and be broadcast on ITV. But she would still be someway short of the most number of Brit Awards won. Here are some of the records from the archives. Robbie has had a long career of ups and downs – as anyone who has read either of his books, seen his film, watched his Netflix series, or generally read the tabloids will know.

His crowning achievements might be his three nights at Knebworth and 85 million albums sold, but his 13 Brit Awards must also send his ego-a-go-go. One shy of Robbie is Adele, with her 12 Brit Awards all coming in a decade, from 2012 to 2022. Annie Lennox is the next best female with seven wins while Björk has five.

Radiohead’s often moody and dour songs might be channelled from having been nominated for 16 Brits and never picking one up. Special mention also goes to Craig David, who has received 14 nominations without winning – including six in 2001. His album Born to Do It was nominated, strangely, in both 2001 and 2002 but won neither award.
