Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Mathis Amougou from St-Etienne ahead of Monday night's transfer deadline. The Blues have been looking to boost their midfield options, and the deal will be worth over £10million. The 19-year-old has played for France at Under-18 level. Chelsea have made enquiries about a number of young midfielders over the past week. Many of those enquiries proved fruitless but Amougou is set to become the club's first signing since the summer.
Amougou has impressed in Ligue 2 this season, establishing himself as a key player for St-Etienne despite his young age. A dynamic and technically gifted midfielder, he is known for his ability to break up play and drive forward with the ball. The teenager had drawn interest from several other European clubs.
