Chelsea have FINALLY confirmed Joao Felix’s move away from the club nearly a day after the window shut. The Portuguese forward only joined the Blues in the summer on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid. It is his second spell at Stamford Bridge following a loan spell during the 2022/23 campaign. But Felix is already on the move, with a loan switch to Italian giants AC Milan having been confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. A statement from Chelsea read: “Chelsea forward Joao Felix will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Serie A side AC Milan.
“The Portugal international has made 20 appearances in all competitions and scored seven goals this season, following his summer move to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid. Joao will now spend the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign at San Siro and we look forward to supporting him during his loan spell. Good luck, Joao!”. Felix, 25, has made 20 appearances for Chelsea so far this term, scoring seven goals. But most of his opportunities have come in cup competitions, with just three Premier League starts to his name under Enzo Maresca.
Speaking earlier this month, the Chelsea boss explained that severe competition in West London had seen his opportunities dwindle. He said: "No, the only thing I've said since the start of this season is that it's difficult to play him with so many attacking players. “In my idea it means that if Joao plays, it means Cole doesn't play. Or, if Joao plays he has to play with Cole together but it depends on the game. For me it's quite easy, we have three players but they are more or less similar; Cole, Joao and Christopher Nkunku.
"Joao played some games, Christo [Nkunku] also played and they both started against Ipswich and Southampton they played, Leicester they played. Some games they can both play together but not every game because every game is a bit different.". What is your verdict on Chelsea's transfer window? Share your thoughts in the comments below. Felix could potentially be in line for his AC Milan debut over the coming week. The Italian giants take on AS Roma in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday evening ahead of the weekend’s clash with Empoli.
Away from Felix, Chelsea completed a number of other deals on deadline day. French defender Axel Disasi was allowed to join Premier League rivals Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, while Ben Chilwell joined Crystal Palace. Carney Chukwuemeka completed a temporary move to Borussia Dortmund, with youngster Caleb Wiley penning a loan deal with Championship side Watford.
