Chesney Hawkes was seen wiping away tears as he discussed his heartbreaking loss on Thursday's episode of Good Morning Britain. During the show, hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls chatted with The One and Only singer, 53, about how he has been using music to cope with grief. Just last month, Chesney suffered the tragic loss of his best friend Vic. He had shared the sad news in a social media post, writing at the time: "You may have noticed I’ve been a little off radar recently. Many of you will know that my best friend Vic has been ill recently. I know a lot of you have gotten to know and love him over the years.
"Well, I am heartbroken to say that Vic passed away on Thursday morning. He did so peacefully holding hands with his beautiful family. There are no words to describe the pain we all feel, but now is about coming together and supporting his wonderful family through this tragic time. "This video of him in Prague a couple of years ago is one of our most treasured memories. A day we were all so happy he lived to see and experience as one of life’s biggest Hammers. I will share more about this great man as time goes on, but for now here he is in his element. xx", reports the Manchester Evening News.
On Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Chesney became emotional and wiped away tears while talking about his best friend. "My best friend literally just passed away" Chesney said, becoming visibly emotional and apologising: "Sorry!". During the emotional interview, he shared: "We had the funeral literally last week and so Vic, my lovely Vic." As Good Morning Britain played clips of him with Vic, Chesney was visibly moved, stating: "Oh bless him" while crying and wiping away tears.
Susanna immediately offered her condolences, saying: "Oh it's so hard, I'm so sorry Chesney!" He went on to reminisce about their long-standing friendship that began in their school years, revealing that they often found comfort in each other's company and could cry to each other. Chesney further reflected on the deep connection between their families, highlighting how his children and Vic's children have forged their own friendships, creating an "unbreakable bond".
