The Kansas City Chiefs are bracing themselves for a major loss with assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi set to leave and join the Tennessee Titans. Borgonzi, who has spent 16 seasons with the Chiefs, is heading to Tennessee less than four years since being named assistant GM at Arrowhead, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

He is now poised to make the step up and become general manager in Tennessee, where he will replace the recently-fired Ran Carthon. Carthon was fired as Titans GM on January 7 after the team went 9-25 in his two seasons at the helm, failing to make the playoffs on both occasions.

After dropping the axe on the former running back, Tennessee officials also conducted an interview with Chicago Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham. In Borgonzi they will be adding an executive with vast experience at one of the most successful NFL franchises of the 21st century.

Chiefs assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi is set to leave and join the Tennessee Titans. Kansas City has won two straight Super Bowls in Borgonzi's four-year reign as assistant GM. Since he became assistant GM in Kansas City, the team has reached the AFC Championship game and then won two straight Super Bowls, while a historic three-peat is in their sights this year.

Borgonzi previously served three seasons as the Chiefs' director of football operations (2018-20) and one as the director of player personnel in 2017. After joining as the team's college scouting administrator in 2009, he held a number of different roles at Arrowhead; including manager of football operations, pro personnel scout, assistant director of pro scouting and co-director of player personnel.
