Molly McGrath would not let go of the microphone as ESPN's sideline reporter for the Sugar Bowl and college football fans on social media took notice of it too in what ended up being an awkward postgame interview. McGrath asked her first question, with Sugar Bowl president Walter Becker asking her if she would hold the mic.

When she confirmed, which is the norm in broadcasting, Becker decided to palm it anyway and not let go. Once McGrath attempt to ask her next question to Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, Becker interrupted, wanting to present the trophy, which McGrath obliged.

McGrath could not help but take a second on stage in the middle of the Caesars Superdome to laugh herself at how her postgame interview went off the rails Becker and Freeman. The veteran reporter was prepared for anything and college football fans took notice of how the interview was conducted.

'My guess…it was supposed to be a question to Freeman, then to @Allstate ’s Troy Hawkes to present the trophy. This dude took that away from his title sponsor,' one fan said of Becker. @MollyAMcGrath with the death grip on the mic like a true professional.'.
