Making his debut on the cobbles at a tender age of 12 as David Platt, Jack, the second eldest son of the recently departed Gail Platt, has become a fixture on the show over the years, featuring in some of the soap's most significant storylines.
Ben, who plays Jack's on-screen brother, recounted his initial reaction to the peculiar inheritance: "I was convinced that it was a scam and I said 'that's a scam, you're getting f*****g scammed, I hope you're getting scammed because I'll be so f****d off if you're not'.".
Born in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, the 37 year old has also carved out a career in theatre, starring in numerous stage performances, including adaptations of West Side Story and Oliver!, based on Charles Dickens' 1838 novel, Oliver Twist.
Jack informed fans that he had been left a substantial £5,000 by a devoted postman fan from New Zealand.
