The helicopter crash that tragically killed Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people outside the Premier League club's King Power Stadium was accidental, a jury has been told. The jury has retired to begin its deliberations in the inquest into the incident which took the lives of Srivaddhanaprabha, Kaveporn Punpare, Nusara Suknamai, pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner Izabela Roza Lechowicz on October 27, 2018.

The helicopter, a Leonard AW169, 'aggressively' spun out of control from a height of 430ft and was then 'engulfed' in flames after taking off from the pitch. Senior coroner Catherine Mason addressed the jury at Leicester City Hall on Monday and instructed them to return the conclusion that the crash was accidental.

'The helicopter crash was a terrible tragedy that cost the lives of five people,' she said. 'These were remarkable individuals who were greatly loved and will be terribly missed. This hearing is to explain to the world how they came to die.'. Prof Mason told the 11 jurors that they will answer four questions: who was each deceased person, when did they die, where did they die, and how did they come by their death. She also explained the medical cause of their deaths was not in dispute.
