Daniel Craig has revealed that he came out with a filthy joke after becoming starstruck when meeting a Hollywood legend. The 56-year-old has become a staple of our screens thank to iconic roles as 007 in the James Bond franchise, and Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out series.
In a new interview to celebrate his stint in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, he opened up about rubbing shoulders with his fellow A-listers, and explained that his introduction to Steven Spielberg was unforgettable for the most bizarre reason. ‘Anybody who’s slightly famous, I get starstruck and lose the ability to speak, or go verbless,’ he told W Magazine. ‘Meeting Steven Spielberg for the first time was quite something.
‘I told him a really, really, really dirty joke. He had already cast me in Munich, so it was fine.’. Although Daniel didn’t shed light on exactly what his dirty quip was, we have never been more desperate to know a piece of information. The actor has lit up the screen in countless projects over the years, including The Invasion, Layer Cake, the Jacket, Defiance, the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and, of course, the James Bond movies.
He starred as the superspy in five films, before officially bowing out at the end of 2021’s No Time To Die. Lifting the lid on his career, Daniel confessed: ‘I’m terrible at auditioning. Sam Mendes just laughs when he thinks about the audition I did for Road to Perdition. He went, “Stop! You’ve got the job!” I was so bad, he had to give me the part.
