Devotees of Death in Paradise have spotted a familiar face missing from the latest series, set to launch on our screens on January 31. Danny John Jules, who reprised his role as Dwayne Myers last month for the Christmas special alongside his on-screen father, Nelson (Ram John Holder), is notably absent from the forthcoming episodes.

As creators teased the new series, fans quickly picked up on Dwayne's absence from the cast line-up. While some felt downhearted about not seeing the much-loved character, joy buzzed at the news of JP Hooper's (Tobi Bakare) return. Social media was abuzz with fan reactions over this rollercoaster of emotions. One viewer lamented, "Oh, is JP back? Shame about Dwayne.".

Another eagerly posted, OMG, I hope we get JP for more than one episode," while another quizzed: "Where is Dwayne?". "Glad it is back, going to miss Dwayne - again," someone else chimed in, reports the Express. "Dwayne and his dad not being there has confused me," a fan commented, paralleled by another questioning the absence: "Bring back Dwayne and Nelson; why is he missing?".

Speculation rose with another fan theorising that JP's return could mean Naomi (Shantol Jackson) is exiting the show, musing: "I wonder if Naomi is leaving and JP is the new DS?". The latest series promises plenty of gripping scenarios for the returning seasoned cast members. Gracing our screens again will be Don Warrington as the Commissioner, Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine, Shantol Jackson filling the shoes of Naomi, and Jinny Holder portraying Darlene.
