Evan Ferguson says he’s relishing the chance to work with Graham Potter again after completing his loan move to West Ham. Hammer boss Potter handed the Brighton striker his debut on the south coast and will work with him once again until the end of the season. West Ham are understood to be paying Brighton a loan fee for Ferguson and covering his wages with no option or obligation to buy in the summer.

‘I can see and know how big West Ham is,’ Ferguson told West Ham TV. ‘It was a big opportunity for me to come here. I know the gaffer well and look forward to working under him again. ‘I want to come in and do my best for the club, score goals, and see where we get to.’. Ferguson’s arrival helps relieve West Ham’s attacking injury crisis, though he is not eligible to face Chelsea tonight.

West Ham have completed the signing of Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton. Hammer boss Graham Potter handed the Irish striker his debut at Brighton in 2021. Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and Crysencio Summerville are all sidelined with injury, Jarrod Bowen has been out since December with a broken foot but could return against Chelsea tonight but Lucas Paqueta, who has played up front under Potter instead of West Ham’s only fit striker Danny Ings, is a doubt for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Republic of Ireland international Ferguson, 20, has played just 15 games this season, making only four starts, and scored one goal as he’s struggled with an ankle injury of his own. ‘I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Evan in on loan until the end of the season,’ said Potter. ‘He’s a player we obviously know very well, so I’m grateful to the Board for bringing him in. ‘He’s got plenty of quality attributes as a striker that we believe will benefit the group over the course of the coming months.

‘We’re excited to integrate him into the squad and see him in action in the weeks to come.’. Ferguson’s arrival follows the return to the club of James Ward-Prowse from his loan at Nottingham Forest. There was no recall option in his deal at the City Ground but the clubs agreed to terminate the loan with Potter keen for Ward-Prowse to bolster his midfield. Ferguson has played just 15 games this season, making only four starts, and scored one goal.
