Kellie Finlayson has shared an uplifting update as she continues her battle with cancer in its third year. Diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer at just 25 years old, Finlayson - whose husband Jeremy plays for Port Adelaide - has faced significant challenges but remains hopeful and determined. In a recent Instagram post, Finlayson shared a heartwarming and positive update with her followers. In the video, she bumped fists with the camera and danced with her back to the camera, captioning it 'oncology ward hates to see me coming'.

She went on to share, 'Me on my way to find out that my scan results were ELITE,' followed by, 'Still an unbelievably long road ahead but progress is progress.'. Kellie's recent post stands in stark contrast to the emotional and candid update she shared in late 2024. A post shared by KELLIE FINLAYSON (@kelliefinlayson_). Kellie Finlayson shows plenty of sass and style in her latest update on her cancer battle.

The wife of Port Adelaide star Jeremy Finlayson (pictured together with their daughter Sophia) has been battling cancer for three years. At the time, Kellie marked three years of living with cancer by posting a touching and at times heartbreaking montage of her experience as a young mother fighting the disease. The Instagram post featured raw images from behind the scenes of her battle, including moments of wearing adult nappies, coping with hair loss, and enduring numerous medical procedures.

In the caption, Finlayson wrote, '3 years. 3 whole fkn years,' accompanied by a crying emoji, expressing the emotional toll of her ongoing fight. She was initially diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer, a diagnosis considered terminal, with only a 14 per cent survival rate. Finlayson had experienced symptoms of discomfort in her stomach since age 23 but was initially told it was nothing to worry about.

After the birth of her daughter Sophie, Finlayson found her symptoms persisted, and a colonoscopy led to her devastating diagnosis. Finlayson, who was pregnant at the time, could not proceed with her initial testing and had to focus on her growing family. Her cancer diagnosis came as a shock, and she was left feeling angry and confused. Kellie has been a picture of poise and grace through her battle, but has also been open to sharing her vulnerable moments.

Despite the challenges, Finlayson went through treatment and surgeries, and after a year, her cancer went into remission. However, in 2022, Finlayson was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and scans in July of the following year showed the tumor had become unstable. She would need another round of chemotherapy, which she shared was difficult but necessary.

Finlayson revealed that, although she looks healthy, she is still undergoing chemotherapy and finds it hard for others to believe she is 'literally, terminally unwell.'. "It's taken me a long time to realise this. I do illuminate most rooms in terms of the way I open up to people, the conversations I can hold, the conversations I can create — and I'm pretty proud of it now,' she told Mamamia. Finlayson has spoken openly about how cancer doesn't look the same on everyone and how living with cancer does not have to define her identity.
