Fuming snooker star abruptly walks out of match then tells referee to ‘shut up’ in astonishing meltdown

MATTHEW SELT yelled in frustration as he lost to a teenager in German Masters qualifying. The Brit, 39, had been doing battle with Latvian 18-year-old Artemijs Zizins. The contest took place at Sheffield's Ponds Forge, with a spot at the upcoming German Masters up for grabs.

With the contest level at 4-4, Zizins found himself just needing a red for match ball. He tried to pot the ball in the top right pocket, only for it to cannon out. To Selt's horror, however, the ball then trickled across the pocket and into the top left corner.

Seeing the scene unfold, Selt bellowed "Oh my God!". He then appeared to shake his head in disgust. An awkward scene followed, with teenager Zizins and the referee seemingly not quite sure how to respond. Selt appeared to berate his luck under his breath, before shaking Zizins' hand.
