Fans were left furious after Target's website allegedly crashed due to the massive demand over Rebecca Yarros' latest book, leaving many unable to get their hands on it. Book lovers have long been awaiting the arrival of Rebecca's new tome, Onyx Storm, which is the third instalment to her wildly popular five-part Empyrean series.
The raunchy fantasy novel dropped at midnight on Tuesday, and the release caused quite the uproar. While some people lined up at stores for hours in the middle of the night just to get a copy of the book, others took to Target's website to try to buy it.
But many were not pleased when the site suffered from outages, which resulted in them failing to scoop up a copy before it sold out. The website Down Detector said that reports started coming in that Target's website had gone offline at 2.42am, and lasted until around 4am.
People took to the site to share their outrage, with one person writing, 'I had the damn thing in my cart for half an hour and they wouldn't even let me check out. Target is such BS man.'. '[Now it's] out of stock. It sat in my cart for 30 minutes and I spammed the buy button and they wouldn't even let me buy it,' they added.
