Gavin Rossdale is mourning the loss of his mother, Barbara Stephan. The Bush rocker, 59,  revealed the sad news in an emotional post on social media Friday. 'Tuesday 28th Jan at 5pm I lost my mama,' the announced. He said that his mother had lost her life 'after a long tortuous fight,' but did not reveal the cause of death. 'It’s hard to put into words the bond we had and the void she leaves. the world feels lonelier and today the journey seems longer and more uphill,' he said of the emptiness caused by his mother's death.

'I know she is with me at all times because that is the way with love and loss. we carry those who we love yet cannot see. that is my comfort,' he said, adding, 'I send you all my love.'. Words of condolence came in shortly after he announced the sad news. In the post, Rossdale shared flashback photos of his mother, who, along with sister Lorraine, was by his side when he received the Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy in 2013.

Rossdale's son Apollo Bowie, 10, was named for his mom whose maiden name was Bowie. He shares Apollo and brothers Kingston, 18, and Zuma, 16 with former wife Gwen Stefani.

He is also dad to daughter Daisy Lowe, 36, from his relationship with fashion designer Pearl Lowe. Rossdale lost his father, Douglas, in June 2018 at the age of 93.  He and Barbara divorced when the future musician was 11 years old, and he lived mostly with his dad after the split, according to the website onesecondbush.com.
