Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins disrupted this Friday's (January 17) broadcast with some immediate "breaking news". In the most recent instalment of the popular morning programme, Charlotte divulged that an agreement had been reached to free Israeli hostages in Gaza.

"Breaking news this morning, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says a deal to release the hostages has been agreed," she announced. "The leader had delayed a cabinet vote to approve the ceasefire deal after accusing Hamas of seeking last minute changes to the agreement. That appears to have been resolved.".

She then passed the segment over to reporter Sarah Coates, who was stationed live in Tel Aviv. "Charlotte, crucial hours ahead. Israel's security cabinet will meet in just a matter of hours time to actually vote on this deal. It will then go through the full cabinet on Saturday afternoon," Sarah elaborated, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Anticipated to receive the green light from the cabinet, the agreement includes a 24-hour period during which objections can be raised. The ceasefire is slated to commence on Monday. The US and Qatar, who have acted as interlocutors in the Gaza negotiations, initially declared the ceasefire agreement on Wednesday (January 15).

Netanyahu previously conveyed that final touches were being added to the deal and expressed his gratitude to President Biden for his role in "promoting" it. The Israeli Prime Minister put off the cabinet vote yesterday, imputing to Hamas an attempt to "extort last minute concessions".
