Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins has revealed a significant decision following the devastating loss in the family. The family's cherished rescue dog, Bailey, died last year. The 49-year-old GMB presenter shared that the family's cherished rescue god Bailey died last year at the age of 16, which she said felt like "physical pain".

As an ambassador for the Dogs Trust, Charlotte admitted it took her a considerable amount of time to contemplate bringing another pet into their lives. However, she, along with husband Mark Herbert and daughter Ella Rose, are now ready to welcome a new furry friend.

In an interview with Woman magazine, she said: "Last year we lost Bailey, our rescue dog. She was 16 and a big part of our family. "We knew it was coming, and I'd said to my daughter, 'prepare yourself', but when it happened, it hit me like a physical pain, which I had not expected. It's taken us a long time to even think about getting another dog, but this year we're taking the plunge and welcoming another furry friend into our house.".

The family is currently on the lookout for the perfect pooch to join their household. Charlotte was visibly emotional when she first announced Bailey's passing on GMB, reports the Manchester Evening News. They had adopted Bailey when she was just four months old and Charlotte confessed she still misses "hearing her tiles on the floor" and often forgets that she's no longer there to feed.

The former Strictly contestant opened up to OK! Magazine, sharing a heart-wrenching tale about her beloved pet, saying: "We knew we only had a matter of time with Bailey but the physical pain I felt when we lost her still took me by surprise. She was a really important member of our family and such a beautiful, special dog.".
