The news came as a quite shock to fans, who wasted little time in doing what they do best, launching another petition to save Neighbours from the axe.
The long-running Aussie soap was axed last week by Amazon Prime Video, just two years after the streamer’s ad-supported service Freevee came to the rescue.
While no official reason has been given for Amazon’s decision not to renew Neighbours, It’s thought that the closure of Freevee – the platform that ultimately championed rescuing the soap – played a part.
The Neighbours fans have proven a true force to be reckoned with over the years, with a previous petition to save the serial after Channel 5 pulled funding in 2022 amassing a whopping 75,000 signatures.
Neighbours fans have wasted little time in attempting to rescue the beloved soap from the axe once again following news of its unexpected cancellation.
