Homebase fans rush to store after they spot real Christmas trees being given away for FREE

LUCKY shoppers have spotted an unbeatable Christmas deal on a true essential for the big day. Homebase stores have been spotted giving away Christmas trees for free. As the big day approaches, Facebook users have been sharing the best deals they have seen on the high street.
The shocking freebee was put on the page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group. Shopper Reesha Baker shared a picture of a pile of Christmas trees at the Homebase shop in Hessle near Hull. A planter alongside the trees states that they are "FREE.". Meanwhile, a sign in the window declared that there was "At least 20% off everything in store.".
It comes as the garden and homeware retailer has launched closing down sales after it fell into administration in November. Around 70 stores have been rescued by CDC Superstores which owns The Range and Wilko. This move is set to save up to 1,600 jobs but 74 locations and around 2,000 employees are at risk.
But Homebase is not the only place with major discounts on real Christmas trees. DIY retailer B&Q has been spotted selling good-quality real firs for just £5. Shopper Stewart Thompson shared pictures of rows of trees still full of needles waiting to be bought with 75% off signs.
These are on sale in Sutton in Ashfield, but other B&Q stores have even better bargains. "B and Q Enfield £2 fresh Xmas tree," fellow shopper Daniella Grant posted on the Facebook page. The special offer is for "all live cut Christmas trees," according to the store sign.
