Huge 00s rock band making comeback in 2025 with perfectly ‘nostalgic’ album

A British pop-rock band that dominated the UK charts in the noughties are reportedly set to delight fans with a new album this year as part of a big revival. Authors of hit songs like Naïve and Ooh La, The Kooks are said to be returning in a major way in 2025.
What’s more, their brand-new album – the group’s seventh – is apparently one that returns them to the roots of their popular early sound, affectionately termed ‘indie sleaze’. The band is comprised of lead singer and original members Luke Pritchard and guitarist/keyboard player Hugh Harris – who have been Kooks members together since the beginning, over 20 years ago in 2004 – as well as drummer Alexis Nunez, who joined in 2012.
They also have some major UK dates approaching this year, after touring internationally first. A source described the new album as ‘electric’. ‘They have gone back to their breakthrough sound and have come up with some nailed-on hits,’ they told The Sun.
‘When they went into the studio, they had no expectations and were just having fun. But they’ve come out with a brilliant album.’. The tracks are hailed as ‘really reminiscent of the songs from their early records’, and the group ‘can’t wait for their fans to hear them’.
In November, the Kooks released new single Jeanie, a collaboration with lovelytheband, which went viral for them on TikTok and helped the group tap into a new audience, which is younger and predominantly female. ‘It’s opened their music up to a wider audience, so they think the new record will land at exactly the right time,’ the insider added.
