Helen Flanagan opened up about her mental health in a vulnerable post shared on social media after her Christmas and New Year's celebrations. The Coronation Street actress, 34, has been open about her mental health, with the Celebs Go Dating star sharing details about her OCD and other personal issues. In early 2024, Helen exclusively revealed to the Mirror how she suffered a breakdown after splitting from Scott Sinclair, admitting she spiralled downwards into a "very scary" psychotic episode.
And now, in a vulnerable and honest post shared on social media, Helen detailed the tough year she had in 2023, which included falling out with family members, being stressed and losing money following her split from footballer Scott. She revealed she spent Christmas that year alone and only went to her mum's house after her dad called her.
Her children spent time with Scott as she wanted to keep things fair for when she took them away to Bali days later. She said of being alone: "It really hit me out of nowhere. I said to my friends before hand it’s just a day I’ll be fine. I had bad mental health. My love life was a shit show that year...
"I didn’t look after my my mental health or think. I felt so shit and sad. I felt like my whole life was f**ked up now and I had the perfect family. 13 years is a long time to be with someone. My whole 20s. I had a lot of family fall outs too and I also lost basically all my money. Me and Scott weren’t married we were engaged.
"My mental health was so bad I thought maybe my kids would be better off without me and maybe they would be better off with their dad as he’s more level headed than me. I love my kids more than words can say but when you are not well you’re not well." Her reunion with her kids wasn't much better as she spent most of her family trip to Bali in the hospital as her daughter, Matilda, had 'Bels Palsy and half her face was paralysed.'.
