Former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has compared Noel Gallagher to infamous online firestarter Azealia Banks, saying that the Oasis star “loves a little confrontation.”. The Little Mix v Oasis clash first began in 2021, after Little Mix won the Brit award for Best British Group.
Their win made Brits history by making them the first female act to take home this trophy, succeeding where the likes of Spice Girls, All Saints and Girls Aloud had failed in the past. Taking aim at the group’s achievement, Noel told The Sun in 2021: “Little Mix, with the greatest respect, are not in the same league as Oasis. Not even in the same f***ing sport.
“It’s a symptom of the music business chasing the numbers — and there not being any bands or songwriters in those bands.”. Jade Thirlwall hit back at Gallagher’s comments two months later as part of her appearance on Nevermind The Buzzcocks. “[It’s a] shame really. Because you know, we are definitely the most successful girl group in the country, but he’s not even the most successful performer in his family,” she said.
Looking back on the beef now, Thirlwall reflected: “Well, we're very different bands, so I'll give him that to that respect. We're very, you know, we're a pop girl band. Yeah. I don't know why he was comparing us, actually.”. “Maybe for the clicks,” Theroux replied, to which Thirlwall agreed: “I think so. I think he loves a little confrontation, doesn't he, that one.”.
