Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence can officially turn his attention to preparing for the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his throwing shoulder this week. The team announced that both Lawrence and tight end Evan Engram each had successful shoulder surgeries this week and are expected to participate in offseason activities next spring. The former first-overall pick out of Clemson was placed on injured reserve earlier this month.

'Everything was positive in both players' cases and just now looking forward to recovery time,' embattled Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said. 'In both cases they're not long-term, lengthy-type surgeries recovery time,' Pederson said. 'So, at some point this spring they'll be ready to go.'.

Lawrence hasn't played since suffering a concussion on a controversial hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair on December 4. He ultimately cleared concussion protocol before his shoulder surgery, according to the team. Al-Shaair was ultimately suspended for hitting the sliding Lawrence in the head.

Backup Mac Jones has struggled in Lawrence's place, tossing seven interceptions this year compared to just four touchdowns. But the news isn't all bad in Jacksonville. Brian Thomas Jr. had been looking at the records for weeks, maybe even months. He knew the exact numbers he was chasing, and once Jacksonville was eliminated from playoff contention, the first-round draft pick from LSU really started to pay attention to them as he crept closer and closer.
