Before the evening's Monday Night Football festivities got underway, the Monday Night Countdown crew decided to have a little fun with panelist Jason Kelce. Over the weekend, in the city of Philadelphia, there was a 'Jason Kelce lookalike contest' where many a white, bearded man gathered to be judged to see who was the closest in appearance to the former Eagles center.
The contest appeared to attract people from as far as Connecticut as they all took part in the festivities. It appears the only person who wasn't entirely on board with the situation was Kelce himself. As the broadcast began to show images of the contestants, Kelce complained that they all looked like him.
'Newsflash: any overweight white guy with a beard looks just like me! What are we talking about?,' Kelce proclaimed. Jason Kelce gave his live reaction to a 'Jason Kelce lookalike contest' in Philadelphia. Kelce played in the NFL for 13 seasons, all with the Philadelphia Eagles, before retiring in March.
'It's an easy competition. There is absolutely nothing unique about these gentlemen, other than they're large people with beards - and of Caucasian complexion.'. After showing the results of the contest - where the panel disagreed with the winner - host Scott Van Pelt offered some self-deprecating humor.
'Hey, listen, we're all sort of in the content space. 10 years on SportsCenter, any bald white guy with glasses we've been making a thing out of it, so don't knock free content,' Van Pelt said. Kelce wasn't moved: 'Do you know how disheartening it is to know there is nothing unique about you at all? [and that] Thousands of people look like you.'.
