Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum recalled the first time he met NBA icon Michael Jordan - and the embarrassing moment that defined their first encounter. Speaking on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', the reigning NBA champion Tatum said that he first met 'His Airness' back in 2019 right after signing with the Jordan brand.

The brand was hosting a retreat in Paris that summer and Tatum had been invited to join on the eve of his third NBA season. 'I met MJ in 2019 when I first was introduced to the brand and first signed over and I met him in Paris... they had a bunch of athletes, it was a big event they used to do in the summer before Covid. It was my first introduction to everyone on the team and it was like a "welcome to the family" moment,' Tatum said.

He then admitted that he 'ruined' that moment later in the evening at a dinner. 'I walk in... I think I just turned 21, it was MJ, his wife, and Spike Lee they were sitting at the table. And my table was over there, and I just wanted to go introduce myself again and go sit down.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum says he broke a wine glass when he met Michael Jordan. Tatum first met the NBA icon at an event in Paris after he first signed with Jordan brand in 2019. Since joining the NBA in 2017, Tatum has become one of the biggest stars in the league.

'I was so nervous. My hands were shaking, and I go to shake his hand and I knock over his wine glass. And I spill it everywhere, and I break the glass, and I'm speechless.'. But Tatum said that the 61-year-old Jordan was understanding: 'He was super cool about it because that's probably happening a thousand times. That's something we laugh about.'.
