Iconic singer Linda Nolan has passed away at the age of 65. The Nolan Sisters star's death was confirmed in a sad statement by her family on Wednesday after she was admitted to hospital at the weekend. The Daily Mirror Columnist has passed away today with her famous sisters at her side - just days after her last poignant piece for this newspaper. Her final hours were said to have been full of "love and comfort.".

In an interview prior to Christmas, Linda explained how she had suffered a fall as her legs "just gave way" from under her. She explained how such medical emergencies were commonplace in her final months as she dealt with a harsh diagnosis of secondary breast cancer, which spread to her hip, liver and brain.

Explaining how she dealt with her diagnosis, she told OK!: “I’ll use jokes and humour as a way to cope, but of course it’s scary. And I have my days where I’m terribly down.”. She bravely added her Christmas wish was to “keep breathing and see another one". Making a joke, she apologised to the journalist for slightly slurred speech, saying" "The cancer’s in my brain, I’m not drunk, I promise.".

In her last Mirror column, Linda spoke of taking an ill turn over Christmas. She candidly wrote: "The doctors say it’s been a bad case of flu. I became so weak I’d walk a few steps and struggle to catch my breath. My legs were even more wobbly than usual and of course although I try not to, I immediately thought of how Bernie was at the end. You think, Oh my God, is this it?".
