Following successive draws against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, Liverpool collected maximum points to leave them top of the Premier League by six points having played a match less. They are also leading the standings in the Champions League after six-consecutive wins in the competition, knowing that a point will be enough to guarantee their progression to the knockout stages.
Home advantage should certainly play its part given Liverpool have won each of their last 10 group/league phase games at Anfield in the UCL, scoring 22 goals and only conceding three times. Only two French sides have ever won away to Liverpool in major European competition (Marseille in 2007 and Lyon in 2009), with 12 of their 15 combined trips ending in defeat (D1).
So Lille's chances don't look overly positive, although we've seen enough to know that they could cause a shock. The French side are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Champions League (W4 D1), which is their longest run ever in the competition.
