Not only did the defeat bring a shuddering halt to their mini-revival. It also gave credence to the argument that Manchester City are NOT back, rather they merely beat the likes of League Two Salford, Leicester, West Ham and Ipswich Town.
Pep's antidote? He's looked for reinforcements. And he's got exactly that having spent £123million on new recruits in forward Omar Marmoush and defenders Vitor Reis from Palmeiras and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens. It doesn't look like there will be a "bedding in process" for the trio after Guardiola announced they "are able to play already" in the Premier League and could make their debuts against Chelsea on Saturday.
