All 18 games will be played at the same time with 25 of the 36 teams still awaiting their fate. The Cityzens were often home and hosed at this point of the competition during the group stages. But as the inaugural Champions League league phase reaches its climax - Pep Guardiola's side are in danger of an embarrassing early elimination.
The permutation is simple enough, 25th-placed Manchester City must beat Club Brugge to secure their spot in the play-off round. If they fail to win they will be eliminated. Remember, those finishing between ninth and 16th will be seeded and face a team placed 17th to 24th, with the advantage of playing the second leg at home.
However, on paper at least, Guardiola's side have very little to worry about. They've won both of their previous meetings with Club Brugge by an aggregate score of 9-2, while the visitors have never won away to English opposition in European competition in 14 previous attempts.
