Man United 2-1 Rangers: A late Bruno Fernandes goal was enough to secure victory for Ruben Amorim's side at Old Trafford. United looked to have drawn first blood in the all-British clash when Matthijs de Ligt had the ball in the net after 24 minutes. However, the goal was ultimately ruled out after the referee spotted a foul by Leny Yoro on Robin Propper in the build-up.
United found the opening they had been searching for when Christian Eriksen produced an in-swinging corner in the second half. Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland met the ball in the air but his punch sent it flying behind him into the goal to give United the lead.
The visitors continued in their search for an equaliser and were rewarded for their efforts when substitute Cyriel Dessers silenced the Old Trafford crowd. United struck back just minutes later through Bruno Fernandes to secure all three points. More to follow.
