The flight had stopped to refuel in Munich as they returned home from Belgrade where Sir Matt Busby's side had overcome Red Star to reach the semi-finals of the European Cup.

Ahead of kick-off supporters congregated outside Old Trafford for a fan-led service underneath the Munich memorial plaque, with club CEO Omar Berrada present.
