Man Utd star sends passionate message with Ruben Amorim wanting to replace him

Altay Bayindir issued a passionate message after becoming Manchester United's unlikely hero - days after Ruben Amorim decided to look for his replacement. Turkish goalkeeper Bayindir saved one penalty in normal time and another in the shootout as 10-man United held out against Arsenal to book their place in the FA Cup fourth round. The Red Devils took the lead through Bruno Fernandes before team-mate Diogo Dalot was sent off and Arsenal quickly equalised through Gabriel.
The hosts were then given a controversial penalty which Martin Odegaard stepped up to take. Arsenal's captain fired his effort towards the bottom right-hand corner but Bayindir's left arm was there to keep it out. For the remaining 20 minutes of normal time and throughout extra-time, Bayindir kept frustrating Arsenal with a series of brilliant saves, a contrast to his shaky performance in the first half. The 26-year-old later denied Kai Havertz in the penalty shootout, ensuring that United, who scored all of their spot kicks, went through.
Bayindir's heroics came after it was reported earlier this month that boss Amorim wants to sign a new backup goalkeeper in 2025. The Red Devils manager wants better competition for current No.1 Andre Onana, who was rested for the cup tie and is expected to return when United face Southampton on Thursday.
The Turkey international's error-ridden display in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham seemed to make up Amorim's mind, with reports claiming that Bayindir has been deemed surplus to requirements. Bayindir has only made a total of four appearances since joining the Red Devils in August 2023.
