Dubai authorities have said the man detained after exhibiting “fixated behaviour” towards Emma Raducanu at the Dubai Tennis Championships has signed “a formal undertaking to maintain distance from her” after the British player chose to drop charges against him.
“Following Raducanu’s complaint, Dubai Police detained a tourist who approached her, left her a note, took her photograph, and engaged in behaviour that caused her distress during the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
In a statement the Dubai government said on Wednesday that the man had earlier “approached her, left her a note, took her photograph, and engaged in behaviour that caused her distress”.
The statement read: “Dubai authorities have taken swift action to address an incident involving British tennis star Emma Raducanu, in accordance with local legal protocols.
The 22-year-old Raducanu was left distressed by the “difficult experience” she endured during her match against Karolina Muchova on Tuesday night, when she was forced to alert officials to the presence of an individual in the stands, with security removing the man.
