Manchester City seal Marmoush deal, taking January spend to £122.5m

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Omar Marmoush for €70m (£59.1m) plus €5m in add-ons from Eintracht Frankfurt, the forward stating delight at joining a “winning environment and culture”. The Egyptian, who has a four-and-a-half-year contract, is the Premier League champions’ third acquisition of the window. He follows the defenders Vitor Reis, bought from Palmeiras for £29.6m, and Abdukodir Khusanov, signed for £33.8m from Lens, taking City’s spend to £122.5m.
Marmoush, who can operate at No 9 or as a wide forward, will offer Pep Guardiola a different option in attack. He said: “This is a day I will never forget. To sign for Manchester City is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family is so proud. With Pep, his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to become better. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here.

The 25-year-old has scored 37 goals and made 20 assists in 67 games since joining Eintracht in the summer of 2023 from Wolfsburg. This season he has15 Bundesliga goals, one behind the top scorer, Harry Kane. Txiki Begiristain, City’s sporting director, said: “Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward, and I’m delighted he’s joining us. He’s had an outstanding season, and every time we have watched him, he has influenced matches. He has all the attributes a top-class attacker requires.
