MARCUS RASHFORD has turned down three money-spinning moves to Saudi Arabia as he weighs up his next move. A switch to the Middle East could have seen the Manchester United forward bank around £35million a year – considerably more than he picks up at Old Trafford.
TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: STAY UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST MOVES FROM THE JANUARY WINDOW. But the 27-year-old has knocked back the approaches from three clubs there as he is determined to win back his place in the England squad. So if he does leave his boyhood club this month, it would only be to a team and league that will give him the platform to do that.
That means a switch to Turkey has also been ruled out by Rashford and his camp – despite reported interest from Fenerbahce. He currently earns around £315,000 a week with United and the wages on the table from Saudi would have almost doubled that. Catching the eye of the new Three Lions coach is a big priority for the 60-cap forward as he has not played any international football since March.
Despite saying in December he is ready for the next steps and a new challenge, it is understood he has not ruled out staying at United – and he is under contract until 2028. He has not featured in the club’s last five games – since he was axed from the squad by Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby in mid-December.
