A MASTERCHEF star has announced she will close her Michelin-backed restaurant after half a decade serving punters. Former contestant Dani Heron, who co-owns OSMA in Greater Manchester with Sofie Stoermann-Nas, will shut up shop on February 9. However, fans of the Scandinavian eatery will be happy to hear that they can still get their fix at the restaurant's new home in Manchester city centre.
The culinary duo pointed to a “struggle to find experienced staff” as a main reason for the switch up, forcing them to work extra hours and having "little to no personal life" as a result. The popular restaurant first welcomed in diners in 2020, charming locals with its weekly menu switches and use of seasonal ingredients.
The owners were inspired by a formative trip to Oslo, and wanted to bring a "hygge haven" to the UK. In 2024, OSMA nabbed a coveted spot in the prestigious Michelin Guide. They announced that their kitchen at the food hall Exhibition on Peter Street in Manchester city centre will remain open.
“Neighbours and friends, we’ve spoken with some of you already, but it’s time to make it official," an announcement of the closure read. "It’s with a heavy heart, but excitement for the future, that we have decided to close our Prestwich restaurant ahead of a move to the city centre.
“Being fully transparent - we’ve struggled to find experienced staff, leaving us with little to no personal life. "We have made the decision to move on to what we hope will be a more sustainable business that can grow, and allow us more time to follow our dreams. This is by no means the end of OSMA.
