Squid Game fans have finally been able to watch the second series of the hit dystopian drama, after the bombshell first series exploded onto Netflix in 2021. Quickly becoming the streaming service's most-watched series ever, fans have eagerly awaited the second instalment, which dropped on Boxing Day. Three years on, the South Korean sensation is just as popular with fans and has replicated its triumph.

If you've not yet watched the ground-breaking drama, Squid Game follows the downfall of a desperate gambler, who takes on death-defying quests in the hope of becoming rich. Viewers watch as money-hungry contestants are put through the last resort of the brutal Squid Games, a series of deadly challenges.

The first season garnered much critical acclaim, with Empire commenting: "Its messages hit like a sledgehammer to the head, yet this vibrant, vicious series holds a surprisingly big heart at its core. A winning blend of spectacle and sentiment.". Portraying the Squid Games story is a stellar all-star cast, which comprises of Korean actors and music industry stars. South Korean music craze K-Pop has lent many of its biggest stars to the Squid Game cast, with those familiar with the scene likely to recognise a few faces.

One of them is Jo Yuri, a former member of South Korean–Japanese girl group Iz*One. She rose to fame after taking part in Mnet's reality series Produce 48 in 2018, in which she finished third place. The Korean-Japanese girl group were an overnight hit, selling millions of records in Asia, before disbanding after their three-year contract ended in 2021. When Iz*One split, Yuri went solo, releasing singles Glassy, Taxi and Loveable on her own.
