A newly released official portrait of US First Lady Melania Trump sends a powerful message to the naysayers - and her own husband, an expert has said. Just over a week after her husband, Donald Trump, was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, a stunning black and white photograph of Melania has been released. The portrait, taken in the White House for Trump's second term, shows the First Lady in a dark tailored suit and white shirt confidently posing while resting her hands on a reflective table in the Yellow Oval Room.
The backdrop is filled with expansive glass windows, showcasing the Washington Monument towering over the US capital. The image of the former fashion model was captured the day after her husband officially became president. It was taken by Belgium photographer Régine Mahaux, who has been capturing images of the Trump family for over 20 years. Régine told the BBC, "I was really honoured to be chosen to shoot this official portrait for the second time. As an artist to work with such an inspiring woman is a great privilege. She is a perfectionist and is really involved in the creative process.".
Now, body language expert Judi James has unpacked and analysed what the striking image portrays. Judi exclusively told the Mirror how the powerful shot has been engineered to exudes 'ownership and leadership' while 'demanding her own respect'. "This full-fibre corporate pose makes Melania look like a candidate for her husband's old role in The Apprentice. It's a CEO, boardroom look, from the sharp but practical power-dressing to the signals of territorial ownership and leadership," Judi said.
