Selling The City's Taylor Middleton has revealed she lost her New York City home after a catastrophic fire ripped through her building. The luxury estate agent, who appeared in the recently released Netflix reality show, explained how she and 19 other residents were left homeless after the blaze broke out on January 22. Recounting the horrific event during an appearance on Fox Business on Wednesday, Taylor said that it was her dog Mac who alerted her and her husband, Peter Scavo, to the emergency.

She said: 'I had actually gone to bed quite early that night and then my husband came to bed maybe an hour after me. 'We were fast asleep and our golden retriever, Mac, all of a sudden started barking ferociously. He's not a barker, and so he woke us up. Clearly there was a problem. 'We turned on the lights and there was just a cloud of smoke in our apartment. 'And at that point, the smoke alarms had not gone off yet. We knew that there was a pretty big problem.'.

Before exiting her home, Taylor revealed she grabbed anything she could, including laptops, chargers, marriage certificates and passports. Selling The City's Taylor Middleton lost her Tribeca home after a fire ripped through her building. The reality TV star was left homeless after the blaze broke out on January 22. She added that luckily the fire brigade were very quick to the scene, although her building is now uninhabitable.

Taylor first shared news of the devastating building fire in a statement shared on Instagram on January 25. At the time, she said: 'Our Tribeca apt building is uninhabitable after a catastrophic fire late Wednesday pm. 'There are 20 families/individuals including Peter, Mac and me who lost their homes and most of our belongings due to smoke and fire damage. 'We are in need of short term furnished rental options immediately.

'Ideally downtown since many families have kids in schools. Please reach out to me with any leads.'. In the caption, she added: 'Our dog @goldenmacnyc is a hero. His barking woke us up and alerted us to a fire in the building. 'We are in total shock. We don't have the words yet or the space to process what happened but we are safe and grateful our neighbors, their kids and pets are also safe. Taylor said that it was her dog Mac who alerted her and her husband to the emergency.

Taylor revealed that 20 residences were left uninhabitable due to smoke and fire damage. 'We are overwhelmed beyond belief but we are eternally grateful to our Tribeca community.'. Concluding the post, she wrote: 'And thank you to all the friends and everyone who has reached out and offered various types of support. Thank you.'. According to reports, two firefighters were injured in the blaze, which took four hours to extinguish.
